Volunteering
“Volunteering”... a magical word that has become rare ! The tumultuous and super-busy life of many people these days means that, after a long, full day, so much still remains to be done at home : preparing dinner, washing and ironing, helping children with their home work... This doesn't leave much time to dedicate a few (precious) hours to a humanitarian or social cause.
And yet, there are still some people, perhaps unemployed or elderly, who don't or no longer have an occupation and who would be delighted to keep themselves busy by doing something useful for society. To “still” feel appreciated.
In our sector, animal welfare, volunteering takes many forms and is essential in helping us carry out our daily tasks.
Just to mention a few :
- Walking our dogs – larger or small dogs, depending on your age and physical strength.
- Keeping our cats company, petting them and brushing or combing them.
- Helping us on our “Open Door” days. Welcoming visitors, showing them the shelter. Selling raffle tickets which are so helpful in providing much-needed income.
- Assisting us in selling various items at external events, different fairs, Christmas markets, etc… . Spreading the word about our organisation to those who still don't know us.
- Visiting those animals that have been rehomed and making sure that all is well. Providing advice e.g. on holidays, vaccinations and the like.
- Helping us in sending out mail, membership renewals or thank you notes to new members. Getting the quarterly magazine ready for posting.
- If you are bilingual, helping us with translating our quarterly magazine written in French.
You see that, whatever help you can provide, depending on your skills, the time that you have available and your liking, all of it is extremely useful and precious to us.
If any aspect particularly appeals to you, please don't hesitate to contact the director, Mr. Follacchio, and/or Madame Lambeau, the president.
So, see you one of these days ?
